With this website in front of you centered around ONE statement of theme... A universal statement that reflects the novel, but is not limited to the novel of Lord Of The Flies but also with other genres.

My Written Statement over Desire for Power
"Some people will go and do ANYTHING to be on top and have control.
Whether it puts others in danger or not".
Desire for power connects to Lord of the Flies in ways that you might not have known. We learn that absolute power corrupts absolutely but limited power might end up making leaders better. This is the difference between Ralph, who gets more mature in his role as a chief as the book goes on and as Jack who begins to get savage! In Lord Of The Flies, the desire for power breaks the boys civilization, causes strife and competition.
&
Eventually ends up destroying the island.
